Privacy policy

Inkswipe makes videos in your browser. Almost everything stays on your device; this page explains the few things that don't.

Who runs Inkswipe

Inkswipe (www.inkswipe.app) is a free tool made and run by an independent developer based in India ("I", "me"). I decide how the limited data described here is used, which makes me the controller under data protection law (the "Data Fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023).

Questions, requests and complaints: hello@inkswipe.app.

What stays on your device

Your browser's local storage keeps your projects (up to 20) with your export settings, whether the "Fine-tune" panel is open, whether you've seen the "Turn sound on" tip and the numbered first-visit steps, and your analytics choice. This never leaves your device, and I can't see it. It's needed for features you ask for, so it doesn't require consent. You can delete projects in the Projects list, or all of it through your browser's site data settings.

"Share project" puts your project's settings in the part of the link after "#". Browsers don't send that part to websites, but anyone you give the link to can see those settings, including the word or sentence. When you open a shared link, Inkswipe reads it and removes it from the address bar.

Microsoft provides Clarity as an independent controller of the data it collects and may also use it for its own purposes, as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Inkswipe tells Clarity that advertising storage is not allowed. If your device is set to a European time zone, Inkswipe doesn't load analytics at all. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics stays off unless you turn it on yourself.

What I don't do

I don't sell or rent data, show ads, build advertising profiles, or make automated decisions about you. I don't use analytics to identify individuals.

Change your choice any time with at the bottom of every page. Turning analytics off removes Clarity's cookies on this site; it doesn't undo what was already recorded, which Clarity deletes on its own schedule.

Who receives data

If I ever add a feature that sends text to an outside service, it will be off by default and clearly labelled, and this policy will be updated before it goes live.

International transfers

I'm based in India. Vercel and Microsoft process data in the USA and other countries, under their own safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask what I hold about you and ask me to correct or delete it. Depending on the law where you are, you may also be able to restrict or object to processing, receive a copy of your data, withdraw consent, and, under India's DPDP Act, use grievance redressal and nominate someone to act for you. Email hello@inkswipe.app; I'll reply within 30 days. Inkswipe has no accounts, so I usually can't link analytics to you without details such as the date and time of your visit.

Children

Inkswipe isn't aimed at children. Analytics is only for people aged 18 or over: if you're under 18, please choose "Reject". I don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if you think I have, email me and I'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy. Typed and pasted content is hidden from analytics. If a breach affects your data, I'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Complaints

Please contact me first at hello@inkswipe.app. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Languages and changes

On request, I'll provide this notice in any language listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India. When this policy changes, I'll update it here with a new date, and if analytics changes in a meaningful way, Inkswipe will ask for your choice again.
